Clare Ross is an award-winning Canadian visual artist working in fine-art photography and oil painting. With more than twenty years of professional artistic practice, classical art training, and a degree in literature, she draws on her studies in theatre and graphic design to inform her approach to visual storytelling.

At the centre of her work is the tension between people and their environment. Ross examines the ways humans interact with, depend upon, manipulate, and transform the natural world, exploring the often unintended consequences of those relationships.

Blending observation with fantasy, Ross constructs imagined realities in which symbolism plays a central role. Through carefully considered compositions, light, and colour, she creates layered visual narratives that invite sustained looking and interpretation.
